Late summer planting at Turn End.

Late summer planting at Turn End.

An interesting and inspiring guided garden walk in the renowned Turn End Gardens followed by a delicious Scandinavian lunch at destination cafe, Norsk. Designed and made by architect Peter Aldington and his wife, Margaret, and an expression of the architects's belief that architecture and landscape design are an indivisible whole, these gardens are on a very human, even modest, scale, and offer lots of ideas that can be integrated at home especially in smaller spaces.

An illusion of space is created in an area of less than an acre and there are courtyards with pools, a small woodland around old apple trees and a curved glade leading to a series of garden rooms - sunken or raised, sunny or shady, geometric or formal. The gardens, and house, are grade 2* listed which reflects the quality and importance of this development which was designed and built in the 1960s.

We will start our walk with an informative talk by gardener, Jackie Hunt, before wandering around ourselves. The design elements and planting are delightful and there is masses to enjoy. I'll point out the details and we'll chat all things plant and design and discuss how you might use the ideas in your own garden. Please also bring your garden questions and I will hope to answer them.

We can also visit the studio of Artist in Residence, Heather Hunter.

After visiting the garden we will walk 5 minutes down the road to Norsk, where we will enjoy the famous open sandwiches. Lunch is included and vegan, gluten or dairy free dietary requirements can be catered for.

Places are limited.

Turn End is located 3 miles north east of Thame and 5 miles south of Aylesbury. Turn off the A418 to Haddenham. In the village centre, turn at the Rising Sun pub into Townside. Turn End is opposite Dovecot. As it was created as a family home there is no visitor parking at the house or garden. There is free, unlimited parking street parking but please do park with consideration to the neighbours.

The garden includes gravel and stone pathways, narrow archways and several steps.  Please let me know if we can help you access the garden more comfortably.

Well being garden design workshops in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & London

Wildflower Magazine Readers’ Day - Wednesday 5th June

I was delighted to be offer a workshop entitled ‘Your Garden for Wellbeing’ at the upcoming Readers’ Day for the lovely Wildflower magazine.

It took place at The Hurley House Hotel on Wednesday 5th June, and was a lovely event with the chance to take part in two inspiring workshops - mine and another by Louise of Beyond The School Run as well as enjoy a delicious 3 course lunch.

Such a fun day and I learnt loads. So lovely to meet some great women too - I feel really inspired to go home and get started on my garden. Thank you Sarah…
